Marching toward Fire Season 2012
Posted: Monday, March 12, 2012

Dear Inbound friends and family,

We are already in March and rapidly approaching fire season.  As a reminder, the first refresher training and pack tests of the year will be on March 24th.  Please RSVP with me at 503-473-4851 if you plan on attending.  We can only accomodate 35 persons.  The next refresher will be on April 28th in Eugene.

I am pleased with the returning firefighters whom I have spoken with.  Also, we will welcome back a few old friends this year and we will have some new engine bosses and one or two new squad bosses and sawyers.  We will have the personnel in place if/when the fire season does arrive.  Current forecasts are calling for an early start to fire season in 2012.  Here is the most recent video forecast published by Northwest Communication Center:

The company continues to look in the mirror to find ways to improve.  We know we need strong leadership in the face of tough scenarios with rapidly changing variables.  We know we need to be in top physical shape.  We know we need good sawyers and good supervision.  I need each employee to be honest with where they can individually make improvements.  Now is the time to embark on a journey of improvement.  When the call comes we will get a chance to demonstrate our capabilities and do what we love...fight fire~

I look forward to our family gatherings...like the training coming up in a few short days (March 24th).  In June we will have a S131 and S133 for our future squad bosses and an S212 for our sawyers.  We will have CPR training that same week and an all hands get together June 8th.

There is a lot to be done before the season gets here.  Please help me by being prepared when the need comes and through your hard work now to help Inbound to continually get stronger.

Thanks, Dillon
